Undergraduates attending any U.S. university who are majoring in chemistry or a closely related field, and who are considering a career--and perhaps graduate study--in chemistry, are encouraged to apply.  Most applicants will be completing their junior year, but well-prepared sophomores should also apply. The program is not designed for students who will have graduated.  We especially encourage applications from women and underrepresented minorities.

Courses in general, organic and analytical chemistry should be completed before the start of the program. At least one semester of physical chemistry is useful for some projects.

A good academic record, especially in chemistry courses, will strengthen an application, but evidence of interest in chemical research is a major consideration.

The Chemistry Department will be moving into the new Integrated Science Building,
so there will be no REU program for the summer of 2018.
Please visit this site in the future for information about how to apply for the summer of 2019.
